Vegetation
Tidal Lakes
You might have seen our grounds maintenance team hard at work recently cutting back some of the vegetation around the Tidal Lake. We know many of you share our concern for the park’s wildlife, so please rest assured the team is taking special care not to disturb any active birds’ nests. We’re doing this work to make space for the restoration of the dinosaur models which is due to begin soon.
Fishing Lake
The team will also be cutting back some of the vegetation around the Fishing Lake. Reducing the height and density of vegetation here will improve air flow across the lake, creating a healthier environment for the fish. It will also make space for a greater variety of plants and wildflowers around the lake, increasing biodiversity in this area. Again, our team is taking special care not to disturb any active birds’ nests, while doing this work.
Bird nesting
The gardeners carrying out the works are aware of bird nesting, they have to sign risk assessments outlining the cautious approach they need to take when carrying out this type of work and their team leaders are checking for nests or active nest making before any work starts. The whole team also received training on the subject to raise their awareness at the start of nesting season.
