Role: Community Gardener (freelance)

Salary: £22.00 per hour - up to a contract value of £10,000

Working pattern: Estimated at 11 hours a week, for one weekday and one weekend session each week, 5.5 hours per session. There may be the option for seasonal increases/decreases in hours by agreement.

Duration: Up to 18 months. Availability July 2025 - December 2026

Location: In the park. The Trust’s offices are in Crystal Palace Park, south London. Address: Ledrington Road, London, SE19 2BB.

Reporting to: Director of Parks Management

Responsible for: Community Gardening Volunteers

The Community Gardener will work with colleagues to deliver twice weekly sessions for volunteers to support gardening and management in Crystal Palace Park.

This will include simple tasks such as weeding, planting, composting and other ecology aspects as agreed as well as exploring development of park spaces including the Secret Garden and Jubilee Gardens. This role will help support our volunteers in gaining horticultural skills and confidence - as well as helping to improve maintenance and community engagement in the park.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience of gardening within a community context and offers a chance to develop skills alongside wider engagement projects. Initially, this is a fixed term role until December 2026.
