Our Volunteer Programme is made possible thanks to a grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, with thanks to National Lottery players.

Every Wednesday and Saturday morning (10:00 – 12.30), our friendly crew gets together to keep the park’s gardens vibrant and inviting. It’s a relaxed, supportive team where muddy boots and good laughs are guaranteed.

What you’ll do

No two sessions are the same. One week you might be planting and pruning, the next clearing leaves, mulching woodland paths or tackling a bramble patch. Tasks are light and varied – digging, weeding, tidying and carrying small tools – perfect for anyone who enjoys a bit of practical, hands-on activity.

Why you’ll love it

  • Meet great people – make friends of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Learn and share skills – whether you’re a complete beginner or a green-fingered pro, there’s always something new to pick up (or teach!).
  • Feel good – there’s nothing like seeing the instant results of your efforts and knowing you’ve helped create something beautiful.
  • Breathe easy – fresh air, gentle exercise and a healthy dose of nature to lift your week.

What to bring

Dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes (mud is almost guaranteed!). Bring a kneeler if you have one. We’ll provide gloves, tools, water, light snacks and a fetching green volunteer high-viz vest.
