Summer of Play our flagship family-friendly programme is back with another fun filled season of creative, engaging, and playful holiday free events for children and young people of all ages.
How to book
Summer of Play events are always FREE to attend, but require attendees to book a space so we can manage numbers.
Click on an event listing below to go through to a dedicated Eventbrite booking page for each activity.
Sessions have limited capacity and can be very popular; if you can no longer attend, please let us know as soon as possible so we can look to reallocate the space.
Activities programmed to be age appropriate
The Summer of Play is designed to be inclusive of children and young people of all ages. To ensure that children and young people get the most from our events, some events, activities, and workshops may include a recommendation or suitability for specific age groups, this will be specified on each event.
Please check ticket info and ensure you book sessions suitable for you/your child.
If you have any queries around accessibility, suitability or anything else, get in touch with us directly

The Summer of Play programme is made possible thanks to a grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, with thanks to National Lottery players.
This year's Summer of Play will be taking place 26 July - 31 August 2025, venues across the park. There is something for all interests whether it's science, football, dinosaurs, theatre, art, meditation, there is lots to see, do, and ways to get involved.
Events will take place throughout the school summer holidays. They are free but must be booked in advance.
Tickets go live on 11 July, check back then for programme details!
Tickets for our first events will be released on Friday 11 July. Check back on this page in the coming weeks to find details of more Summer of Play events, as they get announced.
Please note with the exciting park regeneration project and our summer festivals taking place this Summer, please double check the event for detailed information about check-in on each as it may look different this year.

The National Lottery Heritage Fund is the largest funder for the UK’s heritage. Using money raised by National Lottery players we support projects that connect people and communities to heritage. Our vision is for heritage to be valued, cared for and sustained for everyone, now and in the future. From historic buildings, our industrial legacy and the natural environment, to collections, traditions, stories and more. Heritage can be anything from the past that people value and want to pass on to future generations. We believe in the power of heritage to ignite the imagination, offer joy and inspiration, and to build pride in place and connection to the past.
